How to Move from Striving to Surrender with Faith Based Coaching and Biblical Inner Healing
Share
Have you ever felt like you’re running a race on a treadmill that just keeps getting faster? You’re doing all the "right" things, praying, attending church, serving others, yet underneath it all, there’s a nagging sense of exhaustion. You’re striving to be enough, striving to heal yourself, and striving to prove your worth to God and everyone else.
I’ve been there. I know what it feels like to live in that "breaking" season where your own strength simply isn't enough anymore. But here is the beautiful truth: the breaking isn't the end; it’s often where the real healing begins. Moving from striving to surrender isn't about giving up; it’s about finally letting go of the steering wheel and letting the Holy Spirit lead the way.
In this post, we’re going to explore how faith based coaching and biblical inner healing can help you break the cycle of self-effort and step into the peace that surpasses all understanding.
The Exhaustion of the Striving Cycle
Striving often disguises itself as "faith." We tell ourselves we are being diligent, but if our efforts are fueled by fear, control, or a need for validation, we aren't walking in faith, we’re walking in the flesh. Striving says, "If I don't hold this together, it will all fall apart." Surrender says, "God, You are holding me, so I don't have to hold everything else."
When we live in a state of constant striving, we build up spiritual clutter. This clutter makes it nearly impossible to hear God’s voice clearly. We become reactive instead of responsive, often falling back into old trauma responses or unhealthy relationships because we are too tired to choose a different path.

Why Faith Based Coaching is Different
Many people look for help in secular spaces, but for the believer, true transformation requires more than just mindset shifts, it requires a heart alignment with the Creator. Christian life coaching at Grace in the Breaking isn't about "hustle" or "self-optimization." It’s about spiritual activation.
Through faith based coaching, we work together to:
- Identify the roots of your striving (is it fear? perfectionism? past pain?).
- Learn to distinguish between your own anxious thoughts and the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit.
- Develop practical, biblically-grounded tools to walk in your God-given purpose without the burnout.
Renewing Your Mind: The Biblical Foundation
You’ve likely heard the verse: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2). But how do we actually do that when our minds feel like a battlefield?
Renewing your mind bible study isn't just about reading words on a page; it’s about replacing the lies of the enemy with the truth of the Kingdom. When we strive, we are often believing a lie, that we are alone, that we aren't enough, or that God is disappointed in us. Renewing the mind involves a conscious decision to reject those lies and declare what God says about you. This is a core pillar of our coaching and our Community Membership.

The Deep Work: Biblical Inner Healing and Deliverance
Sometimes, the reason we can't stop striving is that there is a deep wound or a spiritual stronghold that needs addressing. This is where biblical inner healing comes in. Unlike surface-level encouragement, this process goes to the root of the pain.
Spiritual healing and deliverance involve inviting Jesus into those broken places, the memories of trauma, the sting of rejection, or the cycles of addiction. We ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the "legal ground" the enemy might be using to keep you stuck in striving. When we bring these things to the light and apply the finished work of the Cross, the chains begin to break.
If you feel like you are in a season of breaking right now, I want you to know that there is hope. My book, The Breaking, walks through my personal journey of moving from striving to a life of total surrender.

Practical Steps to Move Toward Surrender
- Identify the Grip: What are you holding onto most tightly right now? Is it your reputation? Your children? Your finances? Name it.
- Repent of Self-Reliance: Acknowledge to God that you’ve been trying to do His job.
- Invite the Holy Spirit In: Ask, "Lord, what is the truth about this situation?"
- Practice Stillness: Surrender is hard to find in noise. Set aside five minutes of quiet just to be with the Father.
