New Seasons, New Levels, New Alignments: How to Position Yourself for What God Is About to Do
Share
Welcome to our Monday morning teaching. Every week, we gather here to dive deep into the Word, seeking the clarity and direction that only the Holy Spirit can provide. If you’ve been feeling a shift in your spirit, a sense that the old ways of doing things are no longer fitting, you aren’t alone.
God is constantly moving. He is the God of the "new thing." But often, we miss what He is doing because we are trying to drag the old season into the new level. Entering a new season isn’t just about changing your calendar; it’s about spiritual alignment. It requires a conscious decision to shift your heart, your mind, and your habits to match the frequency of where God is leading you next.
In this season of Grace in the Breaking, we are seeing many people step into "new levels" of their calling. However, a new level always requires a new alignment. You cannot fight tomorrow’s battles with yesterday’s strategies, and you certainly cannot walk into a new season while still tethered to the trauma of the past.
Forgetting the Former Things: Breaking Old Cycles
The first step in aligning with a new season is found in the powerful words of Isaiah 43:18-19:
"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
To see the "new thing," we have to stop obsessing over the "former things." This is often easier said than done. Many of us are held back by unhealthy cycles of behavior or the lingering echoes of past trauma.
Biblical trauma healing isn’t about pretending the past didn’t happen; it’s about breaking the spiritual and emotional power those events have over your present. When we stay stuck in "what was," we become blind to the "road in the wilderness" God is building for us right now. If you are constantly looking in the rearview mirror, you will eventually crash. Alignment starts with letting go of the cycle of striving and surrender, trusting that God has already handled your yesterday so you can focus on His today.
Renewing Your Mind for a New Level

A common mistake in Christian spiritual growth is thinking that a change in environment will automatically lead to a change in results. But if you take a "wilderness mind" into the "Promised Land," you will still live like a wanderer.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17:
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
Being a "new creation" means your identity is no longer tied to your mistakes, your family lineage, or your past failures. However, walking in that newness requires renewing your mind. In faith-based coaching, we focus heavily on this biblical principle. If God is calling you to a new level of leadership, influence, or peace, you must first align your thoughts with His Truth.
Are you still thinking like a victim when God has called you a victor? Are you still operating from a place of lack when He has promised abundance? Renewing your mind with the Bible is the only way to ensure your internal "alignment" matches the external "promotion" God is bringing.
Straining Toward What Is Ahead
To move forward, we must follow the blueprint set out in Philippians 3:13-14:
"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
This "reaching forward" is an active stance. It involves:
- Intentionality: You don't drift into a new season; you press into it.
- Focus: You cannot be distracted by the opinions of people who belong to your old season.
- Obedience: Sometimes alignment means saying "no" to good things so you can say "yes" to the God things.
Many people find themselves stuck in a "waiting room" between seasons. Usually, this is because there is a piece of biblical inner healing that still needs to take place. God is too loving to take you to a level that your character isn't ready to sustain.
How to Hear God’s Voice for Direction

One of the most frequent questions I receive in 1:1 coaching is, "How do I hear God's voice clearly when everything is changing?"
In a transition, the noise of the world: and the noise of our own anxiety: can be deafening. But alignment requires a "tethered" heart. Here are a few practical ways to sharpen your spiritual ears during a shift:
- Silence the Clutter: You cannot hear a whisper in a hurricane. Set aside time for quiet, away from phones and notifications.
- The Word is the Standard: God will never tell you to do something that contradicts His Word. If you aren't in the Book, you won't recognize the Voice.
- Check the Peace: Colossians 3:15 tells us to let the peace of God "rule" (act as an umpire) in our hearts. If you are forcing a door open and losing your peace in the process, that is a sign of misalignment.
- Seek Wise Counsel: Sometimes God uses spiritual coaching or community to confirm what He is already speaking to your spirit.

Surrendering to His Timing and Alignment
Finally, we must understand that alignment is an act of total surrender. You cannot control the wind, but you can adjust your sails. God’s timing is rarely our timing, but it is always perfect.

When God realigns you, it might feel uncomfortable. He might shift your friendships, your career path, or your daily routine. Don't resist the pruning. Pruning is the evidence that He has a greater harvest in mind for your next season.
If you feel like you are in a "breaking" process right now, remember: grace is found in the breaking. It is in the moments where our self-sufficiency is stripped away that we finally align with the power of the Holy Spirit.
